Editorial standards

Transparent math, independent explanations.

Ship or Spend Co. independently publishes Ship or Spend to make everyday purchase decisions easier to evaluate. Our calculators and guides are created around original examples, clearly stated assumptions, and reproducible arithmetic.

How we create calculators

We begin with a specific shopping decision, identify the totals that actually change, and express the comparison as a short formula. We test normal values, zero values, thresholds, ties, incomplete promotion groups, and unusually large inputs. The methodology page records important assumptions and limitations.

How guides are written

Guides are written for Ship or Spend rather than copied or lightly rewritten from retailers. Examples are illustrative and do not claim that a specific store currently offers a price or policy. When a decision depends on retailer terms, we tell readers which terms to verify instead of presenting a universal rule.

Review and corrections

Ship or Spend Co. reviews content for arithmetic, clarity, internal consistency, and alignment with its calculator. Pages show a reviewed date when materially updated. If we find a mistake, we correct the explanation and calculator together when necessary. Readers can report an issue at hello@shiporspend.com.

Commercial independence

Advertisers do not choose calculator results, formulas, article conclusions, or examples. Advertising, if enabled, is visually separated from tools and editorial content. We do not accept payment to rank one shopping option as mathematically better.

Limits of our work

We provide general educational comparisons, not individualized financial, legal, tax, insurance, or product-safety advice. Prices, tax rules, coverage terms, return policies, and personal needs can change the practical decision.
