How spend-threshold discounts work
A spend-threshold offer applies only after the qualifying cart subtotal reaches a stated amount—for example, spend $100 and receive $20 off. It can change whether adding an item is the cheaper choice.

Your cart is $92, shipping is $7, and the store offers $20 off $100. Paying now costs $99. Adding an $8 item reaches $100, unlocks the $20 discount, and costs $80 if shipping is also free. In this case, adding the item saves $19 overall.
Percentage discount example
With 15% off at $100, a qualifying $100 cart becomes $85 before any remaining shipping or tax. Percentage discounts grow with the subtotal, while a fixed discount stays the same.
Why each option must be checked separately
The original cart might qualify for neither free shipping nor the discount, while the added cart qualifies for one or both. ShipOrSpend applies the offer independently to each option so the comparison reflects the actual checkout rules.
Check the store’s conditions
- Coupons may not combine with other promotions.
- Taxes and shipping often do not count toward the threshold.
- Some products or brands may be excluded.
- A discount can reduce the subtotal below a free-shipping threshold depending on store policy.
When the store shows a different final total, use its checkout result as the source of truth.
